Purchased from Amazon and was available. Still has not shipped and supposed to be here tomorrow.
One of the best upgrades I’ve done to my Tacoma. Beats paying $1K plus for a head unit. The resolution is great and the install was pretty straight forward. Time will tell how it holds up but pretty great so far, no complaints
This is one of my favorite upgrades I’ve done to my 2016 Tacoma. I had wireless CarPlay in an Alpine head unit in a 1st gen truck that was totaled last year and sorely missed it. The native Toyota interface of the Entune 2.0 head unit was good enough to get me across the country, but is definitely showing its age. I was considering upgrading to a $1300 Pioneer stereo, when I learned of this device on the Tacomaworld forums and immediately purchased it. It syncs-up quickly with my iPhone 14 and hasn’t dropped a connection yet, which was a persistent problem with my Alpine head.
During installation, I opted of trim a flange using a Dremel tool and needle file on the Entune screen to prevent possible wear or damage to the ribbon cables. The only difficulty encountered during installation was properly securing one of the ribbon cables, which yielded a white/striped screen on first op-check. I removed it and reconciled the problem and the unit works perfectly. After dialing-in the display colors and EQ in the decoder module’s settings, the unit performs and looks OEM.
I still have more functions to explore with it- namely how to disable the Toyota interface voice control to keep from interfering with Siri on the CarPlay interface (which can be activated using the steering wheel controls) and plan to add another camera into the mix since the unit provides a new connection for one.
Awesome product- I can’t recommend it highly enough. CarSyncTech hit a home run!
Excellent customer service, the module came properly packaged, fast delivery
Have some issues with the HU screen they helped me solve that, highly recommended
Should have 5 starts but I think there will be some screen touches sensitivity need to be up date
I would've been fine upgrading to an aftermarket unit with Wireless CarPlay however, I have a nifty any-time rear/front camera setup in my 2017 TRD Pro. This camera system automatically engages the front camera I installed when I pull out of reverse (think parallel parking). I can also toggle the cameras and activate them from the Mode button on my steering wheel. Really love how "factory" it works. Aftermarket units don't do this and require pushing buttons. So, enter the CarSync decoder. With this decoder I now have wireless CarPlay, my camera system still works, and I still have access to the stock entire interface (important mainly for factory settings). If you all didn't know, the only way to keep your instrument cluster compass is if you keep the OEM entune headunit. This decoder doesn't break any of the factory stuff. It can be a little slow to flip into CarPlay but no biggy. Once in CarPlay, the screen quality and all apps work absolutely fantastic. AND IT'S WIRELESS (which even Entune 3.0 is not... still requires a wire to connect to CarPlay). Support has been awesome and responsive as well.
